Nice: With its mild climate, quaint market town and attractive beaches, Nice is a popular holiday choice among the jet set. It may be a little pricey, but the upmarket atmosphere and the huge range of stylish boutiques and restaurants make the hit to your wallet undoubtedly worthwhile. The town is also a great base for exploring the expanse of the French Riviera.
Biarritz: Once the stamping ground of visiting aristocracy, Biarritz still has a distinctly classy feel about it. The city is located in the stunning Basque country, and is known for its healing spas and famous casinos. If you’re a keen surfer, the Basque coastline is also the perfect place to catch a wave.
Ile de Re: It may not have the jet set status of Biarritz or Nice, but if it’s peace and quiet you’re looking for then Ile de Re is the perfect choice. It lies just off the west cost of France, and is characterised by sleepy fishing villages, rolling sand dunes and sun-drenched vineyards. There are also plenty of beautiful, sandy beaches, and some fantastic country rambles suitable for the whole family.
Tropea: If you’re looking for a classy coastal destination a little further afield, then consider the Tropea promontory in Italy. Think white-sand, amethyst waters, and a town which is both stunningly beautiful and well geared towards the tourist trade. Prices tend to be on the stiff side, but if you’re prepared to splash out then Tropea is certainly worth the spree.
Lanzarote:Lanzarote: Peace and quiet are all very well, but sometimes you just want to let your hair down and party. For bright young things looking to combine some fun in the sun with a fantastic nightlife scene, Lanzarote is the ideal destination.
