Budget Hotel Accommodation Half the fun of anything is in the planning. Don't be disheartened if your financial resources are limited as you plan your summer holiday. Instead, consider your limited budget as a challenge to your creativity and ability to organize your dream summer holiday. As you look for ways on how to cut down your costs, give special attention to your choice of hotel accommodations.

Stay away from hotels situated in the heart of well-known holiday destinations because they are likely to be expensive. Book in a hotel that is 10 to 15 miles away. In some instances you can save as much as £30 a night. This should not be a problem if you plan on renting a car anyway. Headed to the beach? Book yourself at an inland hotel. Again you can save £15 or more a night by giving up a balcony that overlooks the beach.

Compare the prices of the different hotels in and around your summer holiday destination. Even if the seemingly better choice is a hotel that is out of the way, you may just stumble upon promotional deals and discounts offered by other hotels regardless of their location. Visit travel websites that allow you to quickly compare the rates of the various hotels in your target destination.

And while you are on the travel websites, check out their holiday packages. You can customize holiday packages according to your preferences. However, most of those packages include the costs of airfare, hotel accommodations, and car rental. How do you know if the package deal is good? Go to the individual websites of the airline company, hotel, and car rental company mentioned in the holiday package you are interested in and ask for a free quote. You can compare individual rates against the cost of the package.

Sure, you want to holiday in style, but that does not mean you should consider booking at five-star hotels only. Consider staying at locally owned hotels, motels, and even bed and breakfast establishments. You may not find them listed in online travel websites, however, so try doing an online search for them on Google. Use as keywords your destination and add the words "hotels," "inns", or "motels."

It will also work in your favor if you stay in a hotel that has a restaurant within its premises. It's convenient, and hotel restaurants typically offer either free breakfast or huge discounts on meals to hotel guests. And even if you have to pay full price for your meals, you get to save on transportation or gas expense if you are renting a car whenever you have to eat.

On the other hand, if your budget is not too limited, look for a hotel that will give you the best value. Don't limit yourself to hotels that give you low quotes. Consider what you are getting in return specifically in terms of facilities. If staying at a hotel that has a fitness center, laundry facility, swimming pool, wireless Internet, and even childcare services is going to cost you £10 or £20 more than another hotel that does not have all those facilities, you are better off with the slightly more expensive hotel. If you are working with a really limited budget, go for the cheapest you can find; but if your budget is less restrictive, go for the best in value.
