Cruise Holidays: There is only one place you want to be on a hot day in Florida, and that is splashing around in the cool, cool water. Water parks are a great fun day out for all the family, and they also work out a fair bit cheaper than a visit to a theme park. There are currently some amazing deals on Thomas Cook cruise holidays to and from Florida, so there has never been a better time to visit. To whet your appetite, here is a guide to some of the best water parks in Florida. Wet 'n' Wild Orlando One of the most popular water parks in Florida, Wet?n?Wild has recently been incorporated into Universal Studios, and is renowned the world over for its array of pure thrill slides! The two biggest and scariest plunge rides are Der Stuka and Bomb Bay are the two biggest and scariest plunge slides, although The Storm, which drags you into a vortex of rushing water until you drop through the middle, runs them close. Typhoon Lagoon Disney’s own attempt at the water park genre is as visually stunning as we have come to expect from the masters of animated cinema. The main draws here are a long, lazy river with overhead gushers that is over two thousand feet long, body slides, tube slides, and multi-person raft rides. There is also a snorkelling area where you can swim amongst tropical fish and tame sharks in a salt water pool. Blizzard Beach Water Park Disney’s other Orlando water park is more of a white knuckle affair than the aforementioned Typhoon Lagoon. Top attractions include Summit Plummet, which is the fastest and tallest free-fall water slide in the US, the Toboggan Racers 8 lane mat slide race, and the Boat Springs raft ride. Aquatica at SeaWorld This water park, which opened in 2008, is a family oriented park with fairly tame slides and interactive playground areas for kids. It includes a large beach area and shoreline, and has a much more relaxed atmosphere than some of the other parks on this list. Discovery Cove Florida If you have ever wanted to swim with dolphins, then Discovery Cove could well be your dream ticket. This resort, which is owned by the SeaWorld company, specialises in providing interactive experiences with a wide variety of marine life, and is most famous for its bottlenose dolphins. It also features a large aviary, beaches, and a lazy river that leads through waterfalls and lagoons. |
